Other Wanderings

Remembered how legs function again with a backpacking trip into some of the biggest peaks in Idaho. One day was spent exclusively hiking cross country in the wrong direction toward a “lake” that ended up being an almost Mongolian looking dry basin. The next day we found the lake and the CUTEST tiger trout in Idaho. It felt good to remember life outside and above our river canyons and it sure did feel like winter up at 9,000 feet.

9/30/16 – You just guided for 14 days straight and it’s okay to take a break. Toes are cold, birds chirp in the cottonwoods over what, in the spring, is a creek. The morning light is autumn gold over the Lemhis, lighting up a garden almost gone to winter. There’s something especially homey about a friend’s home that feels like your own home too.
